Fall 2021: By-Election Candidates

Candidates listed per position alphabetically by last name.

Director Candidates — Ontario Agricultural College (OAC)

Isha Maharaj:

My name is Ishaka but I usually go by Isha. I’m in my 3rd year of Animal Biology.

I want to represent the OAC because I believe that every student should have a place where they feel as if they belong. I want to create those places for those of us that feel like we don’t fit in with the rest of campus. I also want to work towards breaking stereotypes associated with campus and OAC.

I have been the president of the Indian Students Association for the past 2 years where I had the chance to work in collaboration with the University as well as the CSA. I was also part of the Leadership Intensive program and through these experiences I’ve developed strong communication, advocacy, teamwork and leadership skills. I believe I would be a great fit to the position with my drive and passion for change.

Director Candidates — College of Engineering and Physical Sciences (CEPS)

Anton Naim Ibrahim:

My name is Anton and I'm looking to join the CSA Board of Directors as a representative of the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences. I am in my final year of my studies, and I study both physics and computer science. My experience in both of these fields makes me a suitable candidate as I will be able to represent a large portion of the CEPS.

As the goal of the CSA is to represent students and make their voices heard in decisions, I believe that I will be able to represent them well as an experienced student in multiple departments within the CEPS. I am interested in keeping the best interest of my peers in mind with regards to the operations of the CSA, so that we can make and keep our university great.

Valeria Telles:

My name is Valeria Telles, and I am currently in the fourth year of my Bachelor of Science in Physics. I am seeking to be an at-large representative for the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences. Over the course of my time here at the University of Guelph I have been involved in various clubs and have taken several opportunities to contribute to student success and satisfaction. My main goal is to act in the best interest of CEPS and the CSA while upholding the by-laws and policies. I believe in complete transparency, and trying to be as objective, fair, and impartial as possible. It is important that we continue to work together in decision making to create a safe and welcoming environment for every student. I hope I can count on your support, and I wish you all a great semester back on campus!
