Health and Dental Plans
The Student Health and Dental Plans are a valuable benefit made possible by your Central Student Association and the Graduate Students’ Association. Eligible students are automatically enrolled in the plans and have access to a comprehensive set of extended health and dental benefits. Students who already have some form of health and/or dental insurance coverage are permitted to coordinate benefits, increasing their coverage and decreasing or eliminating their out-of-pocket costs. Those with existing health and/or dental coverage may also choose to opt-out
NOTED CHANGE: Commencing Fall 2019, Dental opt-outs will no longer carry forward from year to year; students who wish to opt out of the health plan and/or the dental plan MUST opt out every year. Online Fall Opt-Out period is August 6 to September 20, 2019.
OVC DVM Program Students: The Student Health Plan covers all requisite rabies vaccines (initial series plus any needed booster vaccinations) for students registered in the DVM program. Should you choose to opt out from the student health plan, please first ensure that you have coverage specifically for rabies vaccination by an alternate plan. The average cost is $200 per rabies vaccination dose and three or more doses are typically required. Note that students not covered by the Student Health Plan will be required to pay up front and then submit for reimbursement to their alternate plan.
