Keeping you happy and healthy is a big priority for your Central Student Association, which is why we have developed the Student Health & Dental Insurance Plan!
We are able to provide coverage to all undergraduate students at the University of Guelph and cover a variety of prescriptions & procedures. For more information on your Student Health & Dental Plan, please visit the ALUMO.CA website.
The Health Plan is a mandatory universal plan and as such does not provide an opt-out; the Dental Plan offers a one-time opt-out with proof of alternate coverage.

SEPTEMBER 1, 2025, SIGNIFICANT CHANGES WERE MADE TO THE WAY YOUR BENEFITS ARE MANAGED. Please read for claims information, registration, and so much more!
The new BENEFITS MANAGEMENT PLATFORM was introduced last September and hopefully you registered at that time. If you did not, please do so.
This new platform will manage all student benefits.
The former Canada Life website and app are no longer accessible and benefits cards are inactive.

2026 – 2027 Coverage
The benefit year begins September 1, 2026, and ends August 31, 2027. Even if you are not enrolled for summer 2027 classes, you will still be covered by the plan until August 31.
Returning Fall Entry Students who are charged the Health and Dental fee in Fall 2026, will be automatically enrolled in both plans.
IMPORTANT: If you opted-out of the Dental Plan last year, you will not be charged the Dental Plan fee for the remainder of your academic career here at the University of Guelph. As such, you will NOT be required to opt-out of the Dental Plan.
Important Dates for Fall Entry Students
Dental Opt-Out Deadline — September 25, 2026
If you were charged the dental fee of $120 and now have comparable dental coverage, you may apply to opt-out of the Dental Plan.
The opt-out form MUST be submitted online, along with providing proof of comparable coverage on the ALUMO.CA website. Opt-outs must be submitted in your entry semester of the current benefit year. Please confirm the dental plan fee was charged to your student financial account before submitting an opt-out form.
Dental Opt-In Deadline — September 25, 2026
If you opted-out of the Dental Plan in a prior year, were not charged the Dental Plan fee of $120 and wish to enrol back onto the plan as of September 1, you may submit an Enrollment Application form and pay the applicable fee on the ALUMO.CA website.
Health & Dental Family Coverage Opt-In Deadline — September 25, 2026
Eligible Fall students may add family members to the Health and Dental Plans by submitting a Family Add-on Application form and paying the applicable fees on the ALUMO.CA website. Family coverage does NOT carry over from previous years and must be completed every year.
