Student Health & Dental Plan: 2021 - 2022 Updates

On behalf of the Central Student Association, we are looking forward to the upcoming Fall 2021 semester. We hope everyone continues to remain safe and healthy over the coming academic year!

Contained in this post is very important information regarding your Student Health and Dental insurance Plans. Please read carefully and mark the dates down on your calendar and if necessary, contact a family member who may handle your alternative coverage. Please note, the Health Plan is a mandatory universal plan and as such does not provide an opt-out; the Dental Plan offers a one-time opt-out with proof of alternate coverage.

The Health and Dental Plans provide coverage to all undergraduate students at the University of Guelph and covers a variety of prescriptions and procedures.

2021 - 2022 Coverage

The benefit year begins September 1, 2021 and ends August 31, 2022. Even if you are not enrolled for summer classes, you will still be covered by the plan until August 31.

  • New Students: New eligible undergraduate students who start in September will be automatically enrolled in both the Health and Dental Plans by mid to late October (approximately 45 days from the start date of their program).
  • Returning Students: Returning eligible students are automatically enrolled in the Health and Dental Plans. However, if you successfully opted out of the Dental Plan last benefit year, your opt-out will carry forward and you will not be assessed the Dental Plan fee.

Please check out our calendar for important Health & Dental Plan dates and deadlines.
