Bylaws, Policies & Rules of Order

CSA Bylaws

CSA Bylaws are documents that define the primary characteristics of the Central Student Association and prescribe how it functions.  Bylaws are basic rules established by the CSA to regulate itself, manage its affairs and govern the actions of its members.  Bylaws are considered so important that they cannot be changed without previous notice to the members and without a specified majority, eg. two-thirds.

Our History

First formed in 1973 and officially incorporated in 1979, the Central Student Association is your undergraduate student voice on campus. By working together, students have made important changes to our campus, as demonstrated in the following timeline.


Student Voice Timeline —

1913: Frustrated by high prices for textbooks, students take a cart and horse to Toronto, buy textbooks themselves, and sell them at cost, creating the Guelph Campus Co-op.

About the CSA

The Central Student Association is your undergraduate student voice on campus and is a semi-autonomous, not-for-profit organization. We advocate for and represent your collective interests, bringing the student voice to decision-makers on campus and in our community. We also provide a number of programs and services to enhance your student experience and save you money. The Association consists of an elected Executive, a Board of Directors, permanent and student staff, and volunteers.


Our Mandate

The CSA is run by students for students. We:
