June 2026 – Bus Pass Tech Issues
Due to the number of reports we are receiving from students of their bus passes no longer working after this past week starting on May 28th, and in the interests doing our best to make students who are facing this issue but have not emailed us aware of the situation, we will repeat the details of the situation as follows: Students who are not in an in-person course this summer, whether that is because they are on a co-op term, their class is a Distance Education course, or because they are not currently enrolled in summer courses, do not automatically pay the bus pass fee. For those students, they have the option to purchase a student bus pass for the summer for the same price as in-person students are charged, by coming to the CSA office during our open hours or by requesting an after-hours appointment with the VP External ([email protected]). Students whose student cards have stopped working on the bus should check their compulsory fees for the Summer 2026 semester on WebAdvisor, to see whether they were charged $163 for the bus pass as an in-person student would have been. Ordinarily, the student cards for DE and co-op students stop working in early May. However, this was not able to occur due to a technical issue. Guelph Transit has spent the past few weeks working to fix the technical issue, and they finished doing so on May 28th. We thank all of you for your understanding during this time. – Your CSA Team

FAQs
I’m registered in summer DE courses, can I still opt-in?
Yes. If all your summer courses are designated DE courses and you were not charged the S’26 bus pass fee, you are eligible to purchase a summer opt-in pass. The pass is a pre-loaded OnYourWay card, activated from May 1st until August 31st, and available only from the CSA.
I’m registered for in-person courses, should I opt-in for the summer pass?
No. As a S’26 registered student, taking on-campus courses, you will be charged for your bus pass along with your other compulsory fees. You will continue to use your student card on all Guelph transit.
How do I check if I have already paid the Bus Pass Fee?
To confirm whether or not you were charged for the S’26 Bus Pass, go to:
WebAdvisor -> Account View -> Account Balance, select Summer 2026 -> Charges ->Compulsory Fees -> scroll to Bus Pass Fee – Undergraduate, confirm whether or not the fee of $163.10 was charged to your account.
I’m not going to be in Guelph during the Opt-in week, can I buy my bus pass online through the CSA?
No. We are unable to process online payments or e-transfers. You must be in-person to purchase your summer bus pass. An early bird opt-in day is set up for Wednesday, April 22nd, between the hours of 10am and 6pm. We are not permitted to sell the summer pass prior to this early bird date. Early evening appointments may be made by request to CSA VP External ([email protected]).
I lost my S’26 Bus Pass, can I replace it, or do I have to buy another one?
As long as you registered the original card with Transit and have the card number, a replacement card can be issued through Guelph Transit. Before you contact Transit, you must purchase a blank OnYourWay card. Blank cards may be purchased for $5 at several locations in Guelph, including the CSA Main Office.
Once you have purchased your replacement card, the card activation and balance transfer can be completed by following the instructions found on the sticker attached to the card, or by calling Transit at 519-822-1811, option 3.
If you lose your pass and have not registered your card, you will need to purchase a replacement pass at the full rate of $163 from the CSA Front Office.
At any point in time, you may purchase rides and passes directly from Guelph Transit.
The Summer Bus Pass, available only to UofG students, is priced at a significantly reduced rate when compared to public fares.
How do I register my bus pass card
To provide your card with replacement protection, register your card here, or call Guelph Transit at 519-822-1811, Option #3.

Can a friend pick up my pass if I’m unable to come during posted hours?
Yes! Email [email protected] a picture of your student card, the name of your friend, and send a screenshot of this part of your “financial view” on WebAdvisor:

If you are in Co-op or Distance Ed please be sure to go to your current semester and send a screenshot of all your compulsory fees instead.
Since 1995, the Central Student Association and the Graduate Student Association have negotiated a bus pass that offers unlimited access to Guelph Transit at a significantly lower rate than the public. Each renegotiation of the UPass is voted on by the student body. With transit routes spread throughout the city, students can make any neighbourhood their home. The CSA / GSA Transit Committee works with Guelph Transit to ensure service routes and schedules are reflective of students’ needs. Bus passes are available to both part- and full-time students enrolled in on-campus courses.
