Menstrual Hygiene Initiative
In 2017, the CSA ran a referendum question that supports the collection of a mandatory fee of $0.90 per semester from undergraduate students with the intention of supplying free menstrual hygiene products. These products, that include pads and tampons, are offered at many highly accessed female and universal washrooms on campus free of charge.
Additionally, in the 2019-2020 academic year, the CSA collaborated with Diva Cup to give away free menstrual cups to students who signed up for the giveaway. In 2023, the CSA will be collaborated with Nixit to give away over 100 free reusable disc-style menstrual cups and fragrance-free cup cleansers.
In the 2023-2024 academic year, the fee will still be collected with the intention of expanding the program to include more washrooms on campus and expanding the variety of the products offered. To expand, starting in 2025, the MHI fee also provides FREE reusable menstrual care products, such as cups and Knix underwear, at our Free Flow Markets held in the fall & winter semesters.
