Fall 2025: By-Elections – Candidates

Director Candidates

Tiffany-Miruna Mares
College of Computational, Mathematical & Physical Sciences Director
I am excited to run for CSA Director representing the College of Computing, Mathematics, and Physical Sciences! As a student deeply involved in our community, serving as Vice President of Communications for the CEPS Student Council, President of Guelph Women in Computer Science, and founder of the new Cloud Computing Club, I’ve seen firsthand the importance of strong student leadership. I am passionate about creating opportunities for CCMPS students to connect, learn, and thrive both academically and socially. If elected, I will advocate for student voices, ensure our needs are represented at the CSA level, and work to expand resources, events, and initiatives that benefit our diverse student body. I believe in building an inclusive and collaborative campus environment, and I would be honoured to represent CCMPS students on the CSA Board of Directors.

Aidan Mikhail
College of Computational, Mathematical & Physical Sciences Director
Hi, my name is Aidan Mikhail and I’m running to be your College of Computational, Mathematical and Physical Sciences (CCMPS) representative. For the past year, I’ve served as a high-ranking executive in one of Guelph’s largest clubs, where I’ve worked to enhance the student experience and create opportunities that bring people together. Through that role, I’ve seen how much impact student leadership can have when it’s accessible, transparent, and focused on students. Unfortunately, too many students don’t know what happens at the CSA. Important, university-shaping decisions are being made without meaningful communication beyond the board. As your representative, my priority will be to keep an open line of communication with students. By making CSA decisions clear and accessible, we can build a more transparent, accountable student association that ensures every student knows what’s happening at their university and how they can be part of it.

Samiya Shakeel
College of Social and Applied Human Sciences Director
As a third-year psychology student, I am passionate about building stronger connections within our college community. My academic journey has taught me the importance of collaboration, communication, and empathy, skills I hope to bring forward as a Director. I am seeking this role because I want to create more opportunities for students to be involved, to feel supported, and to have their voices heard. As someone who values inclusivity and collective growth, I believe in fostering an environment where every student feels they belong and can thrive. Serving as Director would allow me to combine my dedication to psychology with my commitment to student life, ensuring our college continues to grow as a supportive, engaging, and empowering community.
