Exercise Your Rights!
An Annual General Meeting is a meeting of the general membership of an organization.
During the AGM, CSA members review the organization’s performance, discuss future strategies, vote on policy and bylaw changes that have been made by the Board of Directors since the previous AGM, and learn more about the activities of the CSA throughout the academic year. It is also an opportunity to review, discuss, and receive the audited financial statements, approve the CSA auditor for next year, and ask questions to the CSA Executive Committee.
How to Submit Business Items to the AGM Agenda
Business is conducted at CSA Board Meetings and Member Meetings in the form of motions. A motion is a formal proposal by a member to take action and is the basis of the group decision-making process. A motion focuses the group on what is being considered and is phrased in a way to take an action or express an opinion.
The CSA wants to hear from you and encourages undergraduate students to submit motions (business items) to the AGM agenda for members to discuss and vote on.
Business item submissions for the 2025 AGM Agenda are now open!
Contact the Policy & Transition Coordinator (PTC) to receive help in phrasing your motion and submitting business items to the AGM. Submissions must be sent via email to the Policy & Transition Coordinator at [email protected] no later than Friday, February 21, 2025, at 5pm.
For more information, please see ‘How to Submit a Motion to the AGM‘ and ‘AGM Motion Template & Examples‘ documents below and contact the PTC at [email protected].
