Garden Fresh Box
The Garden Fresh Box program is run out of the Guelph Community Health Centre to offer a source of affordable fresh produce that also supports local farmers (available in sizes small and large). Orders are monthly, so you can place one at the FoodBank by the first Friday of the month and they’ll come in the third Wednesday for pick up. The box is stocked with seasonal produce; in the fall and summer the food is from local farms like Ignatius, while in the winter much is still locally sourced from Don’s Produce and the Elmira Auction, but it is supplemented with things like bananas. You can look on the Guelph Community Health Centre website to see how much would come in a typical large vs. small box.
In the Fall and Winter semesters, we host a monthly cooking class! Check out our facebook page to find out when we’ll be hosting a new class!
Some of our past classes were:
- Delicious Medleys: coriander and pinto bean dip, vegetable pilao with chutney, raspberry jam filled cookies
- Simply Soups: butternut squash corn and bean stew, noodle soup bowl, carrot ginger soup
- Sides and Stir-fry: avocado and chickpea dip, rice noodle stir-fry, oatmeal chocolate chip cookies
